The Smart Home of the Future: Our Most Ambitious Project Yet

At SmartHomeGeeks.io, we've always been passionate about pushing the limits of what's possible in the world of home automation. Over the years, we’ve added smart features to traditional homes—retrofitting technology into spaces that weren’t originally designed with automation in mind. But today, we’re excited to announce something truly groundbreaking: the start of one of the largest and most advanced smart home projects in our history.
This isn’t just another smart home. This is a high-investment, from-the-ground-up build that will redefine how a house can respond to and support the people who live in it. Every wall, wire, sensor, and line of code is part of a vision for a home that adapts automagically to your lifestyle, without relying on switches, apps, or cloud-based dependencies.
A House Built for the Future
This project has been in preparation for over three years, with careful planning, research, and design work preceding the construction phase. The home itself is scheduled for completion this summer, while the full smart home automation—spanning every system and sensor—will continue to evolve over the following months and may take more than a year to fully finalize.
This high-tech residence spans 450 m² across multiple floors, with a 124 m² basement and an 800 m² garden. It features four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two living rooms, a kitchen, laundry room, home office, and fully equipped home lab. The basement includes a canteen and an entertainment/presentation room, offering both business and leisure functionality. A spacious garage rounds out the design, creating a comprehensive living and working environment that supports the most advanced smart home features available today.
To ensure energy efficiency and resilience, the house will be powered by solar panels and equipped with a large battery array. This setup will store excess solar energy for evening use and serve as a reliable backup during power outages—supporting both sustainability and autonomy.
Privacy and Security First
We believe a truly smart home puts privacy and security at the core of its design. That’s why we’re building a system that prioritizes local processing wherever possible. No reliance on third-party clouds.
Sensing the Environment, Understanding the Occupants
We're equipping the home with a comprehensive array of sensor technologies—including mmWave presence detection with zone awareness, BLE tracking, LiDAR, PIR motion, humidity, lux, temperature, weather data, fingerprint, door and window states, water leaks, and power usage. Whenever possible, we rely on wired sensors for maximum reliability and performance.
Nearly every room features powered, (corner and ceiling) mounted presence sensors capable of detecting and tracking multiple occupants in real time. This detailed situational awareness allows the home to understand activity and presence at a granular level.
This environment-aware foundation is key to enabling automations that eliminate the need for manual interaction—whether it's for lighting, climate control, access, blinds, appliance operation, security monitoring, or energy management.
Total Integration
Our system integrates with a broad range of smart technologies: dimmers, switches, lights, smart locks, kitchen appliances, blinds, electronic garage doors and windows, valves, actuators, security cameras and robot vacuums, mops, and mowers. Whether wired (CAT6, fiber optic) or wireless (Zigbee, Wi-Fi, Matter, Bluetooth), every component is chosen for performance, reliability, and interoperability.
Beyond Inspiration: A Blueprint for DIY Enthusiasts
This is not just a showcase—it’s a learning platform. Through our blog series, we’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes videos, photos, wiring schematics, source code, automations, and 3D design files. We want to inspire and empower the global DIY smart home community to build their own versions—tailored to their needs and budgets.
Follow the Journey
Visit SmartHomeGeeks.io and follow every step of this journey. We promise a front-row seat to the construction and evolution of the most intelligent, responsive, and secure home we've ever built.

The future is being built—room by room.
Stay tuned,
